Buying a new Server :Dedicated, Managed or Virtual ??

aaah, i'm done with shared hosting. With increasing clients and getting newer and NEWER project shared hosting can't seems to cope up with them. Besides a good amount of revenue goes out of my hand.

I started digging net to buy me a personal server. I stop at dell servers website and got shocked to see the how costly servers are. Even if you manage to buy one which eventually one will, maintenance cost, month IP pool(ip address you'll buy for creating custom domains) charges and bandwidth charge and DNS service charges and many more will make you collapse on your knees (unless you'r rich + technically sound).
So, here are some better option than owning your personal server.
*Managed Server
*Dedicated Server

Managed Server , as the name suggest hosting provider will manage your server. They'll take the overhead of managing, scaling and maintaining all your services running on your server.
A Good but Costly manage server provider is RackSpace whose typical minimum cost is $199/month.  explore yourself. There service is so best that they have outrun Amazon ec2 service  and probably this is the reason why 'posterous' switch to RackSpace.

Manage server comes costly as you can easily guess why?

Dedicated server on the other hand is just like a machine on a lease. You 're the one responsible for maintenance of all services running on it.
Host provider will just help you to take regular backup of your data and ensure that your machine keep running 24x7.
Dedicated server usually don't comes in less than $160/mo.  But server buy at this low cost usually not upto the mark. Better to buy a VPS at this price, which will outrun a cheap dedicated server.

There's many Dedicated server provider just a google away. Cheap one is  OVH,  a french company having servers at many places throughout the world.  Minimum price $99/mo.  WAIT, don't get amazed at this lower price. True it's cheapest host provider out there, but google says it's infamous for its support.
That's one of my reason for not choosing OVH. Better to pay some extra bugs then to repent later.

Well, next on my list is none. I'm still looking for a good host and within my budget. :(

Well, dedicated server will make me pay more, but in the mean time i continue my search on VPS.
*Virtual Private Server
As the name suggest Server is virtually your, but not the machine on which it's running.
People says sometime VPS uses kernel which are older then there car's engine.
Well, whatsoever, but for a new user coming to server world, vps is a good starting point.
It combines the feature of both :manage + dedicated. And with $160/mo, one can have a decent VPS with very decent configuration.
Linode sure has some super duper plan. Many people will suggest you to go to linode. They're really good.  Minimum rent $20/mo. That's a not a bad price, but one probably want to opt better configuration.

I'm still searching. Got little busy with my exams, will resume, once i done with them.
